New data from IRCC shows a record number of SUV files was processed in 2024

March 6th 2025 – New data obtained by Mandeville & Associates shows that IRCC processed a record number of Start-Up Visa (SUV) applications in 2024, surpassing an already impressive growth in 2023.

Statistics obtained from IRCC show that the number of SUV applications processed jumped from only 541 in 2022 to 3,695 in 2023. IRCC then processed a total of 4,050 applications in the period from January to July 2024, putting it on track to process a grand total of 6,943 applications in 2024.

This would represent a year-on-year increase of 87% compared to 2023 and more than a tenfold increase compared to 2022.

This remarkable increase is partly due to the increased target immigration levels planned for the Federal Business Class under Canada’s immigration level plans. It also reflects IRCC’s efforts to increase efficiency and streamline the application process over the last few years, for example by replacing traditional mail-in applications by entirely online filing.

The vast majority of SUV applications processed in the first months of 2024 resulted in a positive outcome. 3,427 applicants were granted permanent residence. 623 applications were refused, and a further 121 withdrew their application.  As a result, it is nearly 85% of processed cases that were accepted by IRCC.

More than two-thirds of SUV applicants who received a favorable outcome and were granted permanent residence in 2024 were supported by Canadian incubators (68%). 29% were supported by angel investors, while only 3% received their letter of support from venture capital funds.
